Merstham Rec Drainage Q at Full Council
“Drainage” was listed as one of the itemised works in the refurbishment of #Merstham Recreation Ground last summer. It was therefore reasonable to expect that the drainage improvements would go a long way towards mitigating the impact of the rainfall experienced this winter.
Bearing in mind no football matches are played over the Christmas school holidays, I was shocked to learn that already on six weekends this winter, 100 per cent of Merstham FC junior fixtures, played on Merstham Recreation Ground, have been postponed & cancelled due to waterlogged pitches. This includes under 8s right the way through to under 18.
Our changing climate is leading to increasingly wet winters in the UK. In the years ahead, I am concerned that the grass football pitches at Merstham Recreation Ground will be unplayable for much of the winter season.
Could you please specify exactly what drainage works were carried out as part of the overall refurbishment of Merstham Recreation Ground?
